Christa Does NOT Believe in Failure was a working concept even before the jam theme of "failure" was announced.
Key ideas like a peaceful game (no death, no shooting) and a side-scrolling style survived through the actual development of the game. Other ideas like racing against your personal best time didn't make it into the coding, but you can still keep track in your head! Also on the theme of non-failure was the idea that at the end of each level, you could choose to return and try to get a better (lower/faster) time, or just carry on to the next level.
The amusing ending came after a few hours of learning to create sprites, and getting inspired by one of the other WTF Game Jam attendees. PS - there is also a hidden message written in the maze!
